About Qadisha Valley
Meaning “Holy” in Aramaic, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1998 for its early Christian monastic settlements and nearby remains of the great forest of cedars of Lebanon.
The rocky cliffs of the Qadisha Valley have served over centuries as a place for meditation and refuge for those in search of solitude.
The Valley comprises the largest number of monasteries and hermitages dating back to the very first spread of Christianism.
